What discounts do you offer at the Academy? (DISCOUNTS ARE ONLY FOR THE DENTAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM)

Military & First Responder Tuition Discount (Dental Assistant Program Discount Only)

  • Discount amount - $1000.00

  • Need valid proof of ID, DD-214 or Driver’s license showing military status, or first responder status

  • Applicant must be active military/first responder, a veteran, or a dependent/spouse of a current or previous service member (Dependent: Military/First Responder members children, or stepchildren)

  • Tuition discount cannot be combined with any other discount the Academy is offering

 

Residency Discount (Dental Assistant Program Discount Only)

  • Discount amount - $500.00

  • Applicant must live in one the cities listed below

Tuition Discount

  • Tuition discounts may be offered from time to time on certain classes from the Academy, this will be available to all students who sign up for that class.

 

Do you guys offer financial aid?

No, but Desert Dental Assisting Academy offers 6 different payment plans. Please go to our Tuition and Payment section on our website for details. 

 

What supplies do I need to buy to start school?

A notebook, pencil, and a highlighter

 

What is included in tuition in the Dental Assistant Program? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

One set of scrubs, textbooks, supplies, materials, CPR Certification, DANB Radiation Health and Safety Exam Fee, and DANB Coronal Polish Exam Fee.

 

What is your dress code/uniform policy for the Dental Assistant Program? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

Our Academy provides one set of scrubs included in tuition. Additional scrubs are available for purchase for $30 a set. You must always wear closed toed shoes in the Academy. Your shoes can be any color, brand, or style. We recommend wearing tennis shoes.

 

When is the deadline to enroll in the Dental Assistant Program? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

Students may enroll anytime. Late enrollments will not be accepted after the start of classes. Programs will be offered every 13 weeks on a rotation from morning, noon, and evening classes.

 

What are entrance requirements for the Dental Assistant Program?

If you are interested in signing up for the Dental Assistant Program we need the following:

  • A valid ID

  • Completion of an Admission Interview  (Done at the time you tour the school)

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (Under the age of 18 - Must have parental or guardian consent and signature)

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Prospective students who do not have the following, must have a letter of recommendation.  

  • Know what payment option you are going to choose

  • Sign the Student Enrollment Agreement

 

What are requirements for graduation for the Dental Assistant Program? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

  • A student must complete the program with a passing grade of 70% (C) or higher.

  • The student must be up to date with their financial obligation agreed upon.

 

Do you offer job placement assistance for the Dental Assistant Program? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

Desert Dental Assisting Academy offers employment assistance to graduates, consisting of job leads and referrals. A course in the Academy called Job Placement Support includes: Job placement presentation. Interviewing skills on how to prepare for a job interview, including proper dress, do’s and don’ts of an interview, resume preparation and a professional head shot.

While assisting in your job search, we make no guarantee, expressed or implied, of future employment. Current law prohibits any school from guaranteeing job placement as an inducement to enroll students.

 

What employment opportunities do dental assistant graduates have? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

Employment opportunities for graduates in the dental field are, Oral Surgeons – Extractions and implants, Endodontist- Root canals, Periodontist- Gum disease and tissues, Orthodontist- Braces and TMJ, Pedodontics- Children and special needs, Prosthodontist- Dentures and partials, Lab Technician- Makes crowns, bridges, retainers, sleep appliances, General Dentistry- All working aspects of dentistry.

What is the DANB Radiation Health and Safety Exam? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

It is an exam that dental assistants need to pass to be able to perform taking dental x-rays on patients in the dental office. This test is 100 questions, multiple choice and you have 75 minutes to take it.

 

What is the DANB Coronal Polish Exam? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

It is an exam that dental assistants need to pass to be able to perform polishing of the teeth on patients in the dental office. This test is 100 questions, multiple choice and you have 75 minutes to take it.

 

Do I take the DANB exam at the school location? (Dental Assistant Program Only)

No, Desert Dental Assisting Academy does not administer this test. Pearson Professional Center administers these tests.
